Volunteer FAQ's

If you don’t see the answer to your question, please reach out using our contact form or email us directly at bfurniturebank@gmail.com

The Baltimore Furniture Bank thrives on volunteers to help organize the warehouse furniture, household goods and linens.  We also need volunteers to help refinish slightly worn wood furniture and fix and clean lamps.

Unfortunately,  we cannot accommodate people with mobility issues as are located in the basement of a very large warehouse which is not ADA accessible.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older.  Younger volunteers are allowed if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

No experience is required for sorting household goods and linens.

Experience is required for fixing, repainting, refurbishing wood and other furniture.

Volunteers support our warehouse and client services by assisting with light furniture and lamp refurbishment, cleaning and sorting household goods and linens, and helping clients select furniture for their homes.

Some tasks involve standing, lifting light to moderate items, or moving furniture.

Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes, such as sneakers, and comfortable clothing suitable for hands on work. Our warehouse is located at the basement level and can be cooler during colder months.  The warehouse is not air conditioned. .

Yes. We welcome group and corporate volunteer teams. Group opportunities are subject to availability and require advance scheduling.  Please send an email with the details to bfurniturebank@gmail.com.
